Good morning friends! Up until a year or so ago, if you were to stop by and saw my closet, 90% of it would have been devoid of color. When shopping, I would fall in love with a particular style and be intrigued by the color alternatives but almost exclusively ended up purchasing the black version. I was always concerned that if I took my personally perceived risk of going with color, that item would just sit in my closet unworn due to not being able pair nicely with other items. With black, it always felt so safe.
Fed up with a dark, dreary closet, I vowed to start pushing my comfort zone and choose color! It has been a style game-changer for me, not to mention so much fun learning what colors look great together and how to best select shades and tones that personally work best. It was in this spirit that I recently stumbled across mustard and discovered it to be a surprisingly wearable color. This particular sweater features the perfect sloping, subtle mock-mock neck and a high-low hem. I love the visually interesting open-stitch details at the end of the sleeves and along the bottom.
I opted to wear it more casual, finishing it off with my favorite high-waisted skinny jeans and these amazingly affordable designer-dupe mules but it could easily be paired with leather leggings or black dress pants. Disclaimer: while I am committed to continuing to push my color wardrobe, there will always be room in my closet for a disproportionate assortment of black dress pants.
